Howard Smith (August 12, 1893 in Attleboro, Massachusetts - January 10, 1968 in Hollywood, California) was an American actor. An imposing presence in films of the late '40s, as well as early television shows such as The Aldrich Family (1949), New York stage actor Howard I. Smith actually made his screen debut as far back as 1918, in Young America. Relocating to Hollywood in 1946, Smith usually played overbearing politicos or other figures of authority, but is perhaps best remembered today as Uncle Charley in the 1951 screen version Death of a Salesman. He is also often remembered as the overbearing boss Oliver Misrell, in The Twilight Zone first season episode titled "A Stop at Willoughby" (May 1960) where angered by the loss of a major account he drove James Daly near crazy with the lecture, "You need to PUSH PUSH PUSH them!" He also later appeared again in May 1962 on the episode, "Cavender Is Coming", starring a young Carol Burnett. He was also a semi series regular on the 1960s sitcom Hazel, appearing almost 30 times, usually as nosy neighbors, pushy Bosses, or political figures.
