Created by the cousins Fred Dannay and Manfred B Lee, Ellery Queen is a modern-day Sherlock Holmes. Despite not having a police connection, he is often called into cases by his father, Richard, an inspector. Every week the listener is invited to match wits with the title character and to try to beat him to the final solution. An unusual element of the show is the panel of experts who are asked to consider the evidence, these normally included stars from the worlds of entertainment and news broadcasting.
