Marshall Matt Dillon is accompanying Doc to see a sick herdsman who threatened to kill the Doc if he didn’t bring a cure. Doc told Matt they were just words but Matt decided to go along anyway out of curiosity. When they got there it turned out it was the lead steer named Old Beller that was ill.
