The Results of our Recent Poll
In our most recent poll, we asked "Did you know you can share ANY of the shows or quizzes on RUSC with a friend, even if your friend is not a member?"
And over half of those who voted said that they didn't know about it! So I thought it would be a good idea to give you a little guide on how to share your love of old time radio with others.
Sharing an old time radio show from RUSC is a wonderful thing to do. It’s like sending an audio ray of sunshine to someone.
It could be one of your children, your husband or wife, a close friend, a distant relative, a work colleague, someone you haven’t seen for years, a member of your church, or even someone you’ve never met.
My wife Joy is always sharing shows. She’ll be listening to a particular show and think ‘Michael would enjoy that’ or ‘That would put a smile on Janet’s face’ or ‘That would be a great show for Sheila to play to the children in her kindergarten class’. Over the years she has definitely spread a lot happiness in this way, and even if the person didn’t listen to the show (I know they usually do) it is still a great way for Joy to let them know that she cares.
In days gone by it took a little time to share a show. You’d have to download it to your computer and then attach it to an email, but we’ve now made it REALLY easy to share a show. So easy that it really does take just a few seconds… and anyone can do it is it doesn’t involve anything technical.
And the great thing is that the person you share the show with doesn’t need to be a member of RUSC. They’ll be sent a special link that lets them download or listen to the show without having to login.
The 'Share this show with a friend' links are located below the buttons on each show.
Sharing a Show via Facebook
- Click on the 'Share this show with a friend' link to open the sharing window.
- Click on the Facebook icon to choose Facebook.
- Log in to your Facebook account if necessary
- Enter the message you'd like to accompany the link to the show. This could be a message about why you're sharing the show such as, 'I just listened to this old time radio show on RUSC.com and it really brightened up my day. Hope it does the same for you!'
- Click on the Post to Facebook button
Sharing a Show via Twitter
- Click on the 'Share this show with a friend' link to open the sharing window.
- Click on the Twitter icon to choose Twitter.
- Login to your Twitter account if necessary.
- Personalize your message, ensuring that you leave the url intact (optional)
- Click on the Tweet button.
Sharing a Show via E-Mail
This is a really quick and easy way to share a show with someone if you know their email address. Here’s how to do it:
- Click on the 'Share this show with a friend' link to open the sharing window.
- Click on the Email icon to choose Email.
- Enter your email address and the address of the person who is receiving the show.
- Enter a message that will be sent along with the link to the show.
- An email will then be sent to your friend which includes our message and a link to download or listen to the show.
