Super Bowl LV

Super Bowl LV

It has never been canceled or delayed in its history, and although it was a little touch-and-go as to whether the Super Bowl was even going to go ahead in 2021 - we have gotten to the last hurdle, and the exciting lead up to the Super Bowl final on Sunday!

As you likely already know, on 24th January, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs reserved their spots in Super Bowl LV. The final is being played in Tampa, with the Buccaneers becoming the first team to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium in Super Bowl history.

Incredibly, this will be Tom Brady’s 10th Super Bowl (he’s won 6 of those)! He only moved to a new team at the start of this season and still made it to the final, whilst his former team didn't even make the playoffs. Oh, and he’s 43 years old!

He’s up against the best of the new breed in Patrick Mahomes though, a real challenger with youth on his side, playing in his 4th season and going for his 2nd Super Bowl after winning his first last season.

It's the Master against the Apprentice, which means it should be an excellent game!

Who will you be routing for this year? I've added a poll over to the right so that you can share your vote -------->>>

I have to go for Brady and Tampa Bay to win - Tom’s last swan song before hanging up his boots (not yet, but soon).

As well as the excitement of Super Bowl week, starting today, look out for a brand new series on RUSC - The Grantland Rice Story.

One of America's greatest columnists of the twentieth century, Grantland Rice was also an influential sportswriter and sports broadcaster who appeared in over two thousand radio programs, mostly sporting interviews, over his long career.

When he passed away in 1954, RCA Thesaurus serialized his book into fifty-two installments, with famed sportswriter Jimmy Powers narrating. There are several football stories amongst these installments, so I have added those for this week  - which slots in perfectly with the week's excitement!

Kicking off the afternoon in the best possible way, on Sunday I'll be treating myself to hours of Super Bowl and NFL glories, watching interviews with past and present NFL greats, and will likely listen to one or two of the NFL Broadcasts or Touchdown Tips on RUSC - or maybe some of the 200+ shows on RUSC in all categories from thrilling dramas through  comedy, with a football theme.

How will you be spending your Super Bowl Sunday?
