As the Lone Ranger rode by on Silver he said that two old friends of his needed help, Bowbra Bates and Hacksaw Hastings two cheerful but irresponsible veterans of the civil war who had collected the taxes in Los Palmas county with the aid of the lone Ranger. Then with their commission in their pockets they rode westward to the Catamount hills where they decided to make their home in an abandoned cabin until another profitable enterprise came their way.
