Dan Reid - the young nephew of the Lone Ranger - rode the trail from the Enchanted Hills to Frontier Town. As he rode leisurely along where the trail skirted a small hill, he suddenly heard shooting. As Dan rounded the bend, he saw two horsemen riding away from a buckboard which was stopped along the trail. An old man was slumped on the seat, and a small boy was sobbing in fear beside him. It was the boy's Grandpa, who had refused to give the outlaws his gold, and so they shot him and took the gold anyway. His last request was that Dan take his grandson to Mother Willett, and to tell the Sheriff that he had recognized one of the men...
