As long as crime is regarded as wicked, it will always have its fascination. When it is looked upon as vulgar, it will cease to be popular. It is Oscar Wilde who said something like that, and so the major preoccupation of our society seems to be crime. After all, what fills most of the space on the front pages of the newspapers? Our story today begins in the office of Roger Williams; a captain of detectives.
