When Dan Smithers is in danger of losing his job and his wife is expecting their first child he looses his self-respect and falls in with a bad crowd headed by a man named Megs. Dr Christian decides that Dan needs a new Hero and with the pageant for Presidents day approaching Dr Christian enrols Dan to play the part of George Washington.
