King Charles needs all of his men by his side to fight Oliver Cromwell, and so Royalist supporter Baron Thomas Arundell must leave his wife and children at Wardour Castle. During the absence of her husband, the castle is besieged by Parliamentary forces of thirteen hundred men and artillery. Lady Blanche Arundell, as promised to her husband, must defend the castle, with only herself, her children, a few maid-servants and twenty-five men!
