Two Grenadiers

Two Grenadiers

Broadcast: August 13, 1949
Added: Feb 09 2024

A gala hour of music and songs, featuring a new vocal artist each week - a great opportunity for deserving young singers to start professional radio careers. The first selection of the concert series is The Two Grenadiers, written in 1815 by Heinrich Heine. It tells the story of two wounded Napoleonic soldiers returning home after their defeat. The song is deeply patriotic and reflects on the themes of loyalty, duty, and loss.

Colonel Robert McCormick speaks on the Preamble to the North Atlantic Pact.
