Two men rode the trail toward Oakford. One was a young man of around twenty three named Burt Denning, and the other was a small, thin but wiry man of middle aged, whose readiness to fight any man of any size, regardless of the possible outcome, had earned him the nickname the Phantom Hooker. Phantom was talking as usual, as they rode along at a leisurely pace about their future. The two men were heading to Burt's uncle's place where they were hoping to find some work - but there had been talk that he may have double-crossed Burt's father once upon a time...
