As all the world knows, on November 7th 1942, the stars and stripes were raised over the cities of North Africa - but it was not the first time that land had seen that flag at the head of an army. Tonight's Cavalcade tells a story which is one hundred and thirty eight years old. It is the story of our first military exploits on those shores, the almost incredible tale of Bill Eaton a swashbuckling Connecticut Yankee, who in 1805 conquered Africa's richest province with only eight United States Marines and a handful of Arab mercenaries to help him.
