Colonel Mark Belton, who had won the army nickname of 'Old Iron Pants' from his hard riding campaigns against hostile Indians, pointed at a map which hung in his headquarters at Fort Reynolds. He had a plan to march to Fort Greystone, but it would mean crossing the Comanche reservation, where it was forbidden to enter if the Indians were peaceful. When a sentry brought word that eight new men had just arrived at the fort to enlist, under the charge of Corporal Mark Smith, Colonel Belton decided that he would take the men along on the march - it would make or break them in a hurry! However, when he saw the young Corporal, he realized that the man was his own son, now enlisted under a false name, who had deserted at the first sign of battle five years earlier. Belton had disowned his son - but could he now prove himself to his father?
