Johnny is hired by a wealthy businessman named John Sabine to investigate the disappearance of his fishing boat, the Sea Gull. The Sea Gull was last seen in the waters off the coast of San Pedro, California. Johnny's investigation leads him to a deep sea diver named Mike Latimer. Latimer claims to have seen the Sea Gull sinking, but he refuses to tell Johnny anything else.
