Hester Mayberry, an elderly widow, who has inherited a large estate from her late husband, and having no children, she adopted two: Claude Mayberry, her husband's nephew, and Lita Davers, the daughter of her dead sister. Lita has finished school and is returning home. Claude still has another year in college. But Aunt Hester has plans for Claude and Lita, plans for keeping the estate in one family. This is upsetting for Claude because he has already selected the girl of his choice, Pearl Wallace.
