Sergeant Preston stopped his team in front of the mine where Tim Peters was working. Suddenly, he heard an explosion coming from the base of the shaft! The blast had clearly gone off too soon, but Tim was alive at least. Sergeant Preston manages to help him out of the shaft, and back to his cabin, but the doctor confirms the bad news they had been fearing - the blast has damaged his eyes, and there's a chance he will never recover his vision...
