In spite of Abner's vocal contributions to the wild bird life of the foothills, Lum's plan to impress Miss Melrose with his knowledge of bird lore failed rather badly yesterday, so it's barely possible that their contemplated book on this subject will never be written. As we look in on the little community today, we find Lum in the Jot Em Down Store absorbed in a volume from the library.
