Following his escape from prison where the Lone Ranger had been instrumental in putting him, Tonty Malone sought refuge at an isolated ranch hideout run by two brothers, Joe and Jess Winters, near the town of Carsonville. The Lone Ranger had heard of Tonty Malone's escape when he dropped in for a friendly visit with the Sheriff of Glen Falls - a town a hundred miles from Carsonville. The Lone Ranger knows that the outlaw needs money, and so he is likely to commit a crime to get it. When he does, the Lone Ranger will be hot on his tail.
