Victoria Beasley who’d rather die than be humiliated hires George Valentine to prove that the heroine in her husband’s sensational book is a former sweetheart of his named Peggy Wilkinson. Valentine doesn’t want any part of a divorce bound shuffle like this but then an attempt is made on Sam Beasley’s life, Peggy takes the blame and the wife trips herself up with a stupid needless contradiction which seems to give the lie to Peggy’s confession.
