This is the story of Dr. Corydon M. Wassell of the United States Navy who served in Java in 1942 during WWII. In the midst of war and death it is a story of saving life not destroying it. It is the story of a man’s love for his fellow men and of that rise from defeat to victory that has rewarded all the sacrifice and effort.

Gary Cooper reprises his 1944 film role in the title role. Cecil B. DeMille directed that film.
