Oscar winning actress Margaret "Maggie" Elliot is broke. Flat broke. She hasn't made any movies for such a long time, and has been clinging to the hope that she can resurrect her past movie stardom. Hitting rock bottom, she finds solace at the bottom of a spirit bottle, is caught driving under the influence, and spends the night in jail. The next morning, her face is plastered all over the papers, and an actor from her past comes to her rescue...
