The first of the stages owned by Jim Plumber, was making a valiant attempt to reach Gold Flatts in time to win a government mail franchise. The stage was driven by the Lone Ranger, who not only had disguised himself to look like Wild Bill Reilly, the famous stage driver, but had assumed the latter's identity as well.
