Lum and Abner had over $800 in their old safe. Lum wanted to keep it in the safe but Abner wanted to take it to the bank. Abner tells Cedric that Lum had taken the money out of the safe without his knowing and put it in a shoebox and planned on taking it to the bank to surprise Abner. Unbeknownst to Lum, Abner has taken the money out of the shoe box and put it back in the safe. Now Lum has taken the empty shoebox to the bank and doesn't know how to tell Abner that the money has gone. Abner is enjoying the fun until Squire turns up for the safe.
