Richard Harding Davis was born in the Civil War year 1864 under a star that was red with blood. In his career as a newspaper man, he was to cover many great events; the Johnstown Flood, the Coronation of a Russian Tsar, the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. But the fame of Richard Harding Davis is built on the World Wars and it began in 1897 when he was assigned to report the attempt of the Cuban people to overthrow the Spanish yoke.
