Mow Birch is worried about his old friend and business partner of ten years Harry Jarvis. Harry had just liquidated his half share in the Happy Traveling Motel and had $30,000. Harry who is 44 had recently married a young cabaret girl named Kiki Adams and was mixing in some strange company including a bop musician and a gangster named Tony Saxon and now he was missing. Mow was worried because the last time he saw Harry he thought he had a worried look on his face and although he said he was taking the bus to Key West that evening the next day the bus driver said Harry never got on the bus. Mow enlists Barrie Craig to investigate.
