The Lone Ranger and Tonto were watching from a hilltop when they saw a westbound stage coach winding through the valley. They hurried down the hill to a pile of boulders near the trail. From their vantage point, they would be able to see who was on the stage coach, and were hoping that a particular judge would be on board. He was supposed to be coming to the area to settle a dispute between a rancher and the Indians in White Cloud's village. Some time ago, the government gave a deed of property to White Cloud, and another deed to Holbrook. The boundary between the two was marked by a stream of water, but a year ago during the spring thaws, the water changed its course and cut deeply into the land belonging to the Indians. Holbrook immediately claimed that the land was now his, as the stream marks the boundary line. That's what makes the case so important, as it establishes a precedent.
