The first Lamont Cranston aka The Shadow knew of the death of Professor Rice was when he read it on the front page of the extra Newspaper. “Professor Rice of the Cosmopolitan Museum was found dying late this evening in his apartment by the department police. In a death bead statement to Commissioner Weston he described his assailant as an invisible man who called himself the Shadow”.
