The idlers of Walnut Grove had gathered around young Hank Evans in front of the harness shop The boy was standing beside a spirited mustang, and every time the horse pawed the ground, Hank cringed with fear. The laughing crowd refused to let him leave, and before long he was on the verge of tears. Suddenly, a buggy rounded the corner and headed down the main street toward the harness shop. Inside were a middle aged woman and a much older man.
