Marshall, now an Inspector, has been transferred to Vancouver. In his new office, Barney has just arrived and Marshall has asked if he'd like to travel along with him on a case about an old gentleman, Sir John, who had recently committed suicide. There's been an order for a special inquiry from Ottawa, and several of the old man's friends are not satisfied with the verdict.
