The Lone Ranger and Dan Reid reached the top of a small hill on their way to join Tonto. As they reined up to study the valley at their west, they saw wisps of smoke curling from blackened objects in the distance. The masked man grew tense, and Dan exclaimed his wonder at what happened. The charred remains of a half-dozen heavy wagons gave evidence of an attack by Indians. The horses were gone, and the lifeless forms of drivers and guards lay where they had been struck down by Comanche arrows...
