Teacher Mr Miller believes that Mary Newhall is a "C" student but then he overhears her in a telephone conversation and discovers she is a revolutionary, but not of the normal human kind. She and her friends are mutants and there are several million mutants like her, all of them children chronologically, but infinitely wiser than grown-ups, all ready to take over the world and make it a better place.
