Albrecht von Wallenstein was a bohemian nobleman who spent his entire life in the service of his country. At the outbreak of the Thirty Years War in 1618, he offered his soldiers and his fortune to his Emperor, Ferdinand II. The Emperor rewarded Wallenstein for his loyalty by taking the command of the army from him.
