Ranchers In Arms

Ranchers In Arms

Big Bill Carson owned one of the largest ranches in Laramie County. In response to a message, he came into town to attend a meeting in one corner of the cafe, and found that many other ranchers were there ahead of him. The ranchers were up in arms about the railroad, and the changes it was going to make to the county. Easier access to the old west would mean more people moving to the county. There would be less open range for the cattle to graze, and nesters would begin building homesteads on the range. The men had fought hard against all of the elements to make homes in the county, and they were not going to let that be stripped away from them!
