Bill Newton was a meek, little man, who by one of those unexplainable twists of fate, was married to a large, powerful woman. There were other things in Bill's life, but Prunella overshadowed them all, so that he scarcely remembered anything else. He had forgotten what life without Prunella had been, and he wondered hopefully if he'd outlive her, so that he could find out what life without her might be.
