Lum and Abner are in the Jot 'Em Down store waiting for everyone to arrive for the opening of the box found in the Hempstead chest. Folks are beginning to think that professor Crenshaw is a fake and is more interested in getting his fifteen dollar fee than finding the genuine relatives of the Hempstead's. Lum says there is no way he is Cedric's grandpa. They decide to go ahead with opening the box anyways.
