Patsy is almost late for work because she bumps in to a young boy on the steps delivering a letter to their office. He is in a desperate panic to get away and has no time to wait for a tip and the letter is for My Van Dyke next door. Later it transpires that the boy had seen a murder on Holland Street and scooted off in a panic. Nick Carter goes to his neighbors and finds out that the letter was a begging letter from an unknown person who purports to be connected with his family. He hopes that the address on the letter will lead to the delivery boy and key witness to the murder.
