One of Victor Herbert's most successful operetta's, tells the story of Princess Patrice O'Connor, an Irish princess married to the Italian Prince Antonio di Montaldo, who feels neglected by her husband after their marriage. To make him jealous and win back his attention, she hatches a plan to pretend to elope with the aging Anthony Schmalz. However, her plan backfires in hilarious ways, leading to mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and ultimately, a reconciliation between Pat and Antonio.
