If there's any one point on which all ninety-six members of he United States Senate agree that point is the Senate's right to free unlimited debate. No other legislative body including the House of Representatives is privileged to discuss the principles of American democracy so freely. Naturally senators will protect this precious right at all costs but there are times when those costs are high, almost too high. For evidence of this we take you now to the Senate Chamber in Washington to witness a death; the slow tortuous death of a bill introduced by Senator Dean Edwards, the murder weapon a filibuster.
