We’ve seldom seen a more glorious fall morning than this one in the little town of Weaverville. Brilliant sunshine turns each autumn leave to gold and there is a tang in the air like wine. No wonder there’s a sparkle in every eye, a carefree smile on every face. No wonder pure joy of living but wait a minute what’s this? Our young hero Dennis Day is walking in to the Anderson house with the most woebegone expression we’ve ever seen. Oh dear it seems he’s been fired from his job in the shoe shop…
