Danny Clover and Detective Muggavan are in a ground floor apartment on 9th Avenue. The wind spilled in from the street through an open door and window. Mrs Holland has been beaten - she's covered in bruises. The neighbor across the hall had come over to return a pot to her, knowing that she was home, but when there was no answer and she smelled gas, she managed to get another tenant to take the door off the hinges. Muggavan thinks that she didn't try to kill herself - but that someone else might have done it...
