Cimarron Pete was tried and found guilty of murder in the town of Colson. Sentenced to hang, he moved falteringly up the thirteen steps of the gallows. As the hangman's noose was being fitted around his neck, he broke a long silence with an emotional outburst, that the outlaw Trigger Taylor would get the Lone Ranger and kill him. Trigger Taylor and his gang were wanted to train robbery, stagecoach robbery and murder. Taylor had outwitted all efforts to capture him by one cunningly devised plan after another. There had been six men in his gang, but after the hanging of Cimarron Pete who had been captured by the Lone Ranger, just five men sat in camp with Taylor in the hills near town. He had a plan to lure the Lone Ranger, so that they could kill him!
