Our Town

Our Town

Broadcast: 12th May 1939
Starring: Orson Welles
Added: Jul 05 2003
Our Town written by Thornton Wilder was one of the “classics of modern American theatre” and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for the best play of 1938. There was much talk when it was first produced in the theatre because it was performed without scenery or props and with the lovable garrulous stage manager filling in gaps and explaining things as it went along. In this play Orson Welles plays that part and John Craven plays George the role he created in the original stage production.
