Old Tex had been a Captain with the Texas Rangers. Then he became a Federal Marshal, and then later when he'd married and settled down in Alamo City, he was elected Sheriff. Though somewhat slowed down by his advancing years, he remained the hard riding lawman to be feared by crooks. Then Old Tex was thrown when his horse tripped, and after that the old man's legs were nearly useless. He could walk a little with the help of a cane, and he could handle the reins of a buck board, but his days of hard riding as a man hunter were at an end...
