On his way to join the Lone Ranger and Tonto in camp, Dan Reid reined up at the general store. He dismounted and tied Victor to the hitch rail, next to a buckboard. Approaching the porch, Dan saw a white bearded, grizzled old man with hard, blue eyes, seated on a bent wood chair. Dan didn't know it at the time, but this was aged patriarch of the Cole family, generally known as Old King Cole.
