A twelve-year-old girl, Ellie Conners, has escaped from the state home for girls, and was last reported to be in the vicinity of Pine Ridge. Early the other morning she walked into the Jot 'Em Down Store, and later when Uncle Henry, the Town Marshall, called to ask if anyone had seen the girl - Lum, against his better judgement, had said no. As we look in on the little community today, we find that it's about closing and Lum is just entering the store.
