Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of the giant figures of English Literature, and his Sherlock Holmes is immortal. But some of Conan Doyle's lesser known stories should also be rated as classics. Interestingly, even Doyle's stories which do not feature his great detective show the same preoccupation with the solving of seemingly insolvable problems, and the case of the lost special is one of his best.
