Mary Wesley - girlfriend of Boston Blackie - calls in to the clock shop to have her watch serviced and is informed that it will be ready to collect tomorrow. The clockmakers son Walter is in the back of the shop fixing a beautiful clock for Mrs. Williamson when he comments on a particular kind of clock with a poisoned needle in the winding key. His father remarks that he’d seen such a clock in a shop about 30 years ago it certainly looked innocent. Walter then enquires if they could make such a clock, one that would kill somebody.
