Joe Hatton, convicted killer, walks in sullen silence from the prison to the yawning entrance to the death house where he is to be executed. Alongside him is a preacher wearing a long, black cloak and clerical type hat. The preacher and the doomed prisoner speak in low voices, but Joe Hatton ain't dead yet... And when the lights unexpectedly go off, he takes his chance - escaping by switching clothes with the preacher!
