Susie Parkington remembers the story of her life, and where it all began six decades earlier, as a maid in frontier Nevada, where she met Gus Parkington, a wealthy mine owner and financier, who is so full of enthusiasm for life. As he regales her with stories of New York, she is swept off her feet, and falls in love with him. They are married soon after, and they move to New York, where he introduces her to high society life.
